VMWare BSOD with PVS Target - Duplicate IP

First post in a while but this one has been a pain to solve so I said I'd share it.

I was caught in that situation where I had to reverse image some PVS images and on booting them I got the dreaded IP conflict BSOD as below:

I followed the Citrix KB and set the Conflict detection attempts to 1 to no avail:

I also follow other articles where I mounted the VHD and cleared out all the DHCP settings from:

and from..

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\ (DhcpNameServer )
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\ (DhcpNameServer )

None of this worked so I decided to create a reservation for the offending IP with a dummy MAC (thus forcing the VM onto a new IP) and guess what... the issue is gone. Not the tidiest way to solve this but it works, and after battling this one for a number of days, I'm happy to use it.

Leave a comment if this has worked for you.. or if you have a cleaner or more complete way of stripping the stored DHCP client data from the image.
